How Chaldean differs
The Chaldean system originates from ancient Babylonia. It assigns numbers 1–8 only — 9 is considered sacred and left unassigned. Unlike Pythagorean, letters follow vibrational energy, not alphabetical order.
Compound numbers matter
Chaldean practitioners read the compound number before reduction. 14 is "Movement," 16 is "The Shattered Citadel." The single digit shows the outcome; the compound reveals the path.
The sacred 9
No letter maps to 9 in Chaldean. The number 9 only appears naturally through compound reduction — this is considered a deeply spiritual occurrence, not a mechanical assignment.
Which to use?
Pythagorean is analytical and widely used in Western numerology. Chaldean is more esoteric, emphasising karma and hidden influences. Many practitioners read both for a complete picture.
